Las Vegas Girls Weekend

This past weekend was my much anticipated Vegas/Britney/girls getaway weekend! Wohoo!

Terra and I left Dallas at 2:15 on Friday and made it to our hotel in Vegas around 4pm. I haven't been to Vegas in about five years and in general I can take it or leave it, but I was pretty excited for a weekend away and of course to see Britney! We stayed at The Cosmopolitan hotel - which is dubbed the sorority/fraternity hotel of Vegas. You know, it's also the one with all those crazy commercials. Anyhow, it's a pretty cool place and the rooms were nice and spacious - plus we had an awesome view of the strip and the Bellagio water fountains! After checking out our room and settling in a bit we headed to The Chandelier to meet up with the rest of the girls.

That night we got all dolled up and walked over to STK, which is conveniently in The Cosmopolitan. Although we had reservations we still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get seated. Once seated the girls were in a bit of a rush - we had one hour before their reservations at Hyde. We basically sat down and ordered everything...we were quite efficient. We all really loved the atmosphere and the music - best mix ever! We were basically dancing throughout the entire dinner. It is LOUD...so you can't really talk unless it's the person right next to you...but it's fun. Terra and I shared a steak and it was BURNT. yuck...since we were in a bit of a time crunch and our waiter would disappear every so often we just ate what we could. Oh well.  By the time dinner ended it was 10pm (12am Dallas time), so I was ready for bed.

The girls had bottle service reservations at Hyde in the Bellagio so they headed over there while I high-tailed it back to my room for some much needed rest! As far as night clubs go in Vegas the girls loved this one. It's one of the few nightclubs that don't play EDM (electronic dance music).Anyhow, they had a table that overlooked the dance floor and also security that walked them to private restrooms...not too shabby!

The next day we did a little walking around but a lot more of lounging...in our room and in the Sahra Spa & Hammam. It was kinda perfect...since we are almost all mommies (expect one) we all totally enjoyed the downtime! After my massage I attempted to go to the pool and was planning to read but it was way to bumpin' out there...soooo I just headed back to the room.

That night we got ready and met up for dinner at Koi in Planet Hollywood. It was delicious! Afterwards it was time for BRITNEY!
Oh man...and the people watching. So much greatness.
Anyhow, out seats were pretty fab, so we were pumped when we got there.
As far as the concert goes...she just isn't the same Britney from 10 years ago...but hey, all of us age I suppose. (However, if I was being paid the big bucks I might step it up a little more...or not. Who knows.)  She just doesn't hit her moves like she use to. There is a lot of skipping around on stage, slow walking (seductively?) and even some just plain sitting. Oye.
She is still a great entertainer and I would no doubt go back in a heart beat - I just love me some Britney.

Britney seemed to get more into it and more lively as the concert went on. On another note her outfits also got better...she really needs to retire that nude sparkly bodysuite. Just saying. THe picture above was from my favorite set/song that she did - Toxic. Loved it.
So all in all it was a great time. No she isn't the same as she was when she was on top of the world but that's ok. I forgive her.

After the concert the girls gambled for a little bit and big surprise - I went to bed. lol. The next morning we basically just got up and got ready to leave. We all met downstairs and grabbed some breakfast before heading to the airport. The flight home was uneventful and it was so great to see my boys! Missed those little boogers!

Valentine's Fun

Like any other holidays these days...there is basically a week of celebrating. And Valentine's was no different.

We made some yummy sugar cookies and had fun decorating them with Valentine sprinkles.

Ryan worked incredibly hard on his "Planes" Valentine cards that he picked out at Target

This was one of his better cards. He knows how to spell his name and make all of the letters...but he wasn't too concerned with putting the letters in the correct order. He basically just got them all on there...kinda like a word jumble for his friends.

Ryan helped make his teacher gifts. We adapted one of our favorite Christmas treats for Valentine's Day. Ugh, so delicious.
Ryan was so happy to make these treats and even more excited to deliver them to his teachers! Sweet boy!

Ryan's buddy Kelby invited us over after school on Wednesday to make some Valentine's for daddy. Of course the boys checked out all their goodies from school first - they LOVED their Monster boxes that they made!

Getting ready to paint!
Even Grayson painted a frame for daddy!

Afterwards we headed up to Kidville for the Valentine's party with Andy and Jack!

Not so sure of the zip line...

Time for cake.

Ryan loved the zip line!

On Thursday Ryan celebrated once again at school...so much Valentine fun!

On Friday - Valentine's Day - I surprised the boys with some Valentine goodies!

Candy for breakfast - why not!?!

Grayson didn't really eat much of the chocolate but he sure did enjoy playing with it!

Even Bob lucked out on Valentine's day! Got himself a steak bone!
Kevin prepared dinner for us - steak, potatoes and green beans - YUM!

And some cookie cake for desert!
Such a wonderful (even if it is a hallmark) holiday!
Love loving my boys!

Superbowl 2014

We headed out to the Itz's house in Keller for their annual Superbowl party. Jessica always does such a great job and the food is delish! I can't say much for the game (not that I would ever have anything to say) but I did really enjoy the halftime show! The kids all had a great time playing together...which always makes a party successful. :)

Ryan was quite interested in all of Marin's toys - I can only assume because they are "new" to him...not because they are girly :) Poor Kevin was a little concerned when Ryan wanted to play beauty parlor with Jessica...for about an hour.

This guy on the other hand...didn't let go of the football.

Of course there was a little tackling and play wrestling with daddy

Grayson bouncing on a pony while holding the football.

Little cuties!

Snow Day!

Today's snow day was so much better than Icemagedon (back in December)! Really the main difference was that we didn't lose power and really that's all that matters. We had a nice warm house so we were able to take the boys out and enjoy the snow! The boys were so excited to go outside this morning.  Ryan wanted to make a snowman but once we explained there wasn't enough snow he settled on eating some falling snow.

And of course Grayson got in on that action as well!

Running around the yard...

After some snow time we headed inside for some hot chocolate! yum!

Grayson loved watching the snow fall

We played a lot inside and when daddy came home he took the boys outside to build a snowman...
Kevin couldn't find his other glove so he is sporting a kitchen glove here...didn't quite do the trick.

Grayson kept wanting to stomp on the snowman balls.

Kevin put him on the opposite side of the yard (while he gathered snow for the head) and he charged over to try and stomp on the snowman...Ryan was not pleased. Fortunately I was able to stop him.

Carrot for its nose!

Sadly the carrot wouldn't stay on...
Yes, it was a sad sad little snowman. But at least we tried. Ryan was happy.

We headed inside for dinner! My mom made some yummy potato soup - seriously, the best I have ever had. We adapted it from the Pioneer Woman Recipe...soooooo yum!!!
This is what we did:

Package of Bacon
8 Green Onions (chopped)
1 cup Cheddar cheese
4 Medium yukon potatoes
8 cups of chicken broth
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup half-and-half
Salt & Pepper

Cook bacon in pan and set it aside.
Peel and cube potatoes and place them in large pot. Pour in broth and bring to a gentle boil. Cook for 10 minutes, or until the potatoes are starting to get tender. (We also added 4 chopped green onions at this point- the rest will be for garnish) Whisk together the flour and the milk, then pour into the soup and allow the soup to cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove half to 2/3 the soup and blend in a blender/food process until completely smooth. Pour it back into the soup pot and stir to combine. Let it heat back up as you taste for seasonings, adding more of what it needs. Stir in half-and-half. Cook 10 more minutes.
Serve in bowls garnished with green onions, grated cheese and crisp bacon pieces.

So yeah, it's really not like hers at all...much more simple. It's delicious though!!!
