Bump Watch - 16 weeks

I don't feel like the picture shows how much bigger I feel! I think my belly grows throughout the day so maybe I will take one tonight too so we can see the difference!

Just Add Water

My favorite swim shop of all times! Who knew I would even find my first mommy swim suit there too. So I have been looking for a tankini for our St. Johns trip, but all the only ones I could find were too short – which completely misses the entire point. And I just can’t seem to make a one piece work – it seems that you have to have a very short torso for all of them. Anyhow, I told the lady at the store what I was looking for and she was so incredibly helpful! We found the perfect preggo suit. It fits me from top to bottom and I feel nice and covered. I even bought a swim skirt which I figure I will probably user later on during my pregnancy. Although I just wanted a tankini I couldn’t resist getting a regular two piece as well! There were just so many cute ones and I figure I can wear it with a tank top if I feel uncomfortable later on – I should be good for St. Johns. So if you are in need of a new swim suit I would head there – they are so knowledgeable about all their suits and can find exactly what you are looking for!

Boy or Girl

I finished making the invitations for our Gender Reveal party and am super excited for everyone to get them. I think they turned out really cute and I am so excited to blow out the whole theme for the actual reveal. So Boy or Girl – I still obviously have no idea. We actually go to the doctor on March 9th and will get the results but Kevin and I aren’t going to know until the actual reveal party. I plan on taking the results right to Society bakery so that I am not tempted to open them! We are having Society fill cupcakes with either pink or blue icing so that the gender is revealed when we bite into them at the party. We are so excited to find out – I can’t wait to start shopping! Right now I am thinking it is a boy - I don’t know why – oh man its drives me a little crazy when I start thinking about it! Hope everyone can make it! We are planning to grill out hotdogs and hamburgers and of course do the reveal when we bite into our cupcakes! Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can hang outside. Can’t wait!

Baby’s got a closet!

I was fortunate enough to get a three day weekend this past weekend and it was amazing! My mom drove up to Dallas last Wednesday to stay with me because Kevin was headed to Miami for a conference and I hate to stay alone! And then it just so happened that my dad was flying back from the Middle East and had randomly got routed through Dallas on the return trip so it worked out perfect that he would just get off in Dallas. It is always so nice to have my parents come and visit because we always get so much down around the house when they are here. This past weekend my dad and Kevin worked on our washer machine (it started shaking really bad) but after almost two days of working on it the problem still exists…so there may be a new washer machine in our future. It still washes for now and the shaking isn’t as bad but who knows how long it will last. The other good thing was that my mom helped me clean out both guest room closets. The goal was to empty of guest room #2’s closets because its going to be the baby’s and just move everything I still need in to the other closet. While we cleaned Kevin and my dad went to Home Depot and got stuff to make some shelves in the garage so we could store some more things outside. A couple hours, 4 trash bags, 4 goodwill bags later our little baby has a nice big empty closet. I can’t wait to start filling it up!!!

Dr. Appointment

So today I had my first appointment in the Margot Perot offices, which are across the street from their other offices. The office is a lot less crazy than the other one which is guess is because they only have the pregnant women over here – the other one caters to all women who need to be seen. So now I feel like I am in a special club, and I like it. Haha. We didn’t have to wait long and we were basically in and out – which I guess is how the appointments are from here on out. Dr. Richards won’t be doing anymore sonograms – I have to go back to Dr. Rinehart for those at specific times. So now my regular appointments don’t seem like they are going to be all that exciting. Dr. Richards does want me to go see the cardiologist still – in my first trimester there was a two week period where I would get random sharp chest pains and had difficulty breathing (probably didn’t last for more than 5 minutes each time) but I haven’t had anything like that in weeks. Anyways, since I mentioned it to him at my last appointment he still wants me to go see a cardiologist that works with pregnant women just to be safe. So I guess I need to schedule another doctor appointment. Other than that things are perfect! Baby’s heartbeat is still strong and I have a lot more energy. My next appointment is March 9th – I am seeing Dr. Richards and Dr. Rinehart. We actually get to find out the sex of the baby – but don’t worry I am keeping it sealed until the reveal party on March 20th!!

Pinot & Picasso

Dallas needs one of these! I saw that one of my friends had her 28th birthday party with a bunch of girls at the Pinot and Picasso in Houston and it looked like so much fun!! They all painted a super cute pink stiletto on canvas. The best part is that you get to socialize, drink and eat while you paint! So fun! So to my Houston peeps - if you have a party there invite me!! I want to go!! And of course I will have to go again after the baby so I can enjoy the wine part! Here is a pic of their group. Irving, Tx

Lindsey and I headed out to visit our favorite Irving family!! Little baby Andy is so adorable and soooo good!! Fun lunch with mommy! Can't wait to see you again soon!

I'm back!

Yikes! So it's been a while since I made an update. I will go ahead and blame work and my great computer fiasco of 2010 for that – hopefully it won’t happen again!! Anyhow, I am now 13 weeks and the word is OUT! Yay! It’s so fun to tell everyone because its soooo hard to keep it in! Plus I am actually already starting to get a little belly!! It's still very small but definitely just showed up over the weekend. So the latest and greatest on baby McDonough. Kevin and I went to the doctor on Tuesday morning for genetic screening. Like all appointments in the first trimester it was pretty nerve racking – I was so excited to go an be able to see the baby again, but then the other side of you worries that you might get bad news. This appointment was a little more nerve racking in the beginning because you see a genetic counselor before seeing the doctor. She walked us though what they would be looking for and what possible outcomes we could expect. The good news is that everything went perfect. We were able to see the baby’s heartbeat for the first time too! So fun! The little baby was moving around so much which is so weird since I can’t feel anything!! I have two pics from the ultrasound as well as links to the video of the appointment. They gave me a DVD which could not be uploaded to my computer (trust me I tried everything and even got our IT people involved) so I had to make a very bootleg copy by playing it on my TV at home and recording it. Enjoy!!
