Weekend FIVE - 1.27.17

1. D.E.A.R. Reader
On Friday morning Kevin was the guest reader in Ryan's classroom. Good thing I was up there for a meeting because we totally forgot that it was picture day! I was able to bring Ryan up something to wear and give him some 'handsome' hair...and take a snap of Kevin reading.

Damaris helped with the kids that afternoon. When I got home I walked into this.
2. Markers.
Oye.
It was most likely inspired by Hayden's shenanigans from yesterday.  She was so proud of herself until I showed her this picture, then she looked horrified.

Saturday morning we headed to swim lessons, then off to Ryan's basketball game. Since the weather was awesome we met some friends up at The Lot.

3. The Lot
We ended up spending the entire afternoon here.

The kids had so much fun running around...and it was actually pretty empty!

4. Papa's Birthday
On Sunday we celebrated Papa's birthday with a family brunch. The boys were so excited to give them birthday cards that they made. with markers.
Grayson drew Papa and a dog. Inside he wrote a lot of letters.

And of course Ryan included a robot on his!

And we didn't mess with giving her markers again. Although she did put some makeup on while I was getting ready. That little dark spot under her eye is just a little eyeshadow....no big deal.
Makeup - check. Purse - check. Maybe we are getting a little girly.
We also got to wear her new sweater that Gigi knitted her - isn't it adorable? We love it!

After brunch we decided to walk around and check out The Farmers Market.

The boys picked out some Greek cookies

5. Birthday Parties!
Kevin took the boys to a birthday party and I was on girl duty with Hayden.
That afternoon Hayden skipped her nap and we headed to her first girly girl party - A ballet party for her friend Blythe!
I had a feeling most of the girls would be in pale pink, but this little firecracker rocked her hot pink leotard and neon green tights like nobody's business.

The girls danced with a "Real" ballerina and learned some moves...then had some cupcakes!

Hayden enjoyed her cupcake.

Trying to get a picture of all the girls with the ballerina.

Afterwards we headed straight to the Little Gym to celebrate her friend Julia's 3rd birthday.
Hayden had so much FUN!!! She was one of the youngest kids there but that didn't stop her from participating in everything. She LOVED it!

Busy busy weekend...Kevin and I were beat and ready for bed Sunday night.

The Weekend FIVE 11.20

1. Randoms from the week
Even with a big ol suburban, these two prefer to sit in mommy's lap while we wait for Ryan to get out of school. That's ok, I totally over having personal space.
Audrey reading her new book...upside-down.

2. Thankful Cards
Ryan's homework assignment was to make a thank you card for someone.

He made one for his teacher - Mrs. Littlefield. So sweet!

Grayson also loves doing "homework" so he made one for his teachers too!

I taught them how to make hand turkey's (which is now one of his favorite things to draw) and then he kept asking me for sweet things to draw on the card. "Mommy, what else is sweet?"
He went with hearts, flowers and hugs and kisses.

3. Camp Gladiator Birthday Party
Ryan's friend Finn turned six and celebrated with a gladiator birthday. The kids had so much fun doing obstacle courses and my favorite was the tug-o-war!

First it is was the kids against the moms. Holy smokes...they beat us. And I probably shouldn't admit this but it was legit. yikes!

Then the dads had a go. They also were surprised by the strength of the kids...and decided to surprise them back...

4. Soccer Award Party

After the birthday party we headed to The Lot for Ryan's end of the season party.  This season went much like the season's before...but less crying :)

Getting his award - he was proud!

Meanwhile...I hadn't seen Grayson in a while....
Grayson and Jack are besties...even with the 3 year age difference.  They said that next time Thomas and Ryan had a playdate they could have one too! lol (Jack is Thomas's older brother)

5. Friendsgiving
The Jackson's hosted a little Friendsgiving celebration. Ben smoked a turkey and everyone brought the sides - it was delish!!!
Hayden taking care of one of Charlie's babies...

The moms were having a great time eating sans kids...until they found us!

Fun group of friends! (missing Terra)

The Weekend FIVE 11.13

1. Ryan's Veteran's Day Parade
On Friday morning Ryan's school hosted a Veteran's Day Parade. The kindergartners and any veterans are invited to 'parade' through the hallways of the school. They finish in the auditorium and perform a few songs. It was really cute & special! We are so thankful for all the veterans (past & present) who have served our country! Ryan has two great grandparents (both still alive, but unable to attend) that served for our country! I made buttons so that he could honor them as well!

2. Austin
We left Dallas right after school got our and made it to Austin around 7pm-ish. We spent Friday night in Austin at the Paprocki's house. The kids were excited to play with each other...and of course the adults were excited to have a few drinks and relax. I didn't really take any pictures but after a low-key night we packed it up and headed down to New Braunfels for Wurstfest.
We had lunch at Adobe Verde before heading to the festival.

3. Wurstfest
I blogged about our Wurstfest shenanigans here. You can also see last years post here

4. Feeding deer & picking lemons!
Natalie's parents graciously invited the crew to spend the night at their house in New Braunfels and it was so much fun. The kids had so much space to run around together and they loved being outside - picking lemons off the tree and feeding the friendly deer!!!

Hayden wanted to sit with the big kids too!

They really wanted to make a lemonade stand...

5. Dinner at Gigi & Papa's
We finished off the weekend with a family dinner at Kevin's parents house. The kids played with all their favorite toys until the Hales arrived! Love having family so close and thankful for these family dinners we are able to have!

The Weekend FIVE 11.6

1. Red Ribbon Week at SJE
Red Ribbon week is an ideal was for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse. SJE's community showed their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by participating in drug-free activities thought out the week.
Monday: (Halloween) Say Boo to Drugs! Wear a Halloween or Fall-themed shirt
Tuesday: Sock it to Drugs! Wear crazy socks
Wednesday: Hair's to a Drug-free life! Crazy hair day!
Thursday: Put a cap on drugs! Wear your favorite hat!
Friday: Stonewall Stars are RED-y to be Drug-Free! Wear lots of red!

Here is Ryan with his buddy Cooper.
Ryan wanted to wear this Shamrock hat which he says "Is special to me because my Papu gave it to me". What a sweet boy :)

2. Houston
Since Kevin was taking the boys camping over the weekend Hayden and I decided to make a trip down to Houston! Of course one of our firsts stops was Lupe Tortillas!

We also rounded out the weekend with another trip :)

3. Hanging with the Aston's
Hayden and I had so much fun with the Aston's. On Friday afternoon we played in the new house and then we hit up their school carnival!

Hayden was a huge fan of Caroline's barbie's!

Caroline won a goldfish! yay! lol.

Checking out the goldfish. It died about an hour later.

4. Camping
The boys headed down to Purtis Creek for a little Friday night camping.

Of course they started with some fishing...these kids LOVE fishing!

Apparently Grayson put himself to bed. He was tired and told Kevin he was ready...and then hoped in the tent and went to sleep. He takes his sleeping seriously.

And some more fishing in the morning...I swear they did more but apparently this is all that was picture worthy.

And this! Ryan's fish! Woot Woot!

Saturday  night they were back home.

This is the crew that they go camping with (invited by Uncle Michael). Such a sweet group of kids - obviously ours are the youngest but they are all so sweet to them!

5. Flying with this nugget
On Sunday we flew back to Dallas
Hayden was a little bit of a hot mess since we flew during her nap time, but a little chocolate chip muffin and a movie was all she needed to relax.

She's not afraid to get comfy!
