KG Field Trip

In the spring the kindergartners take a field trip to the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens.

It was a beautiful day for a field trip to the arboretum, but seeing the crazy amount of buses that were coming in was a little intimidating. There was mass confusion on where the kids were going to be dropped off - seems like there was a lack of communication within the arboretum but it wasn't a big deal and we finally saw our kiddos unloading!

 Walking in with their partners!
Since it was 10:30am (and Kinder is used to eating lunch at 10:45) we headed straight to the picnic area for lunch.

Should have brought some picnic blankets! I'll be prepared for Grayson and Hayden :)

After lunch the moms helped take kids to the restroom. While the rest of the kids waited Mrs. Littlefield entertained them with some games.

We got to the children's garden at 11:30 and broke into small groups. We had an hour to explore before meeting back up with the rest of the class.

First up - the maze.
We have actually never done this before because its on the right side of the garden - we always walk in and go left to the little kid area and then spend all of our time over there. Anyhow, the kids thought it was pretty cool and it was nice that they were kinda trapped in there - only one entrance/exit.

We explored quite a few areas - some were more crowded than others.
The tree house was kinda crazy - and with all the kiddos climbing up it, it reminded me of an exhibit at the zoo!

Pumpkins at the Arboretum

On Saturday morning I decided to take the kiddos to check out the pumpkin village at the Dallas Arboretum

Hayden wanted me to hold her and wasn't too interested in the pumpkins. When I tried to set her down for a picture she was not having it, so I just said no worries, I'll just get your brothers. Of course she then decided that a couple pics wouldn't be that hard. lol. Too bad it is basically impossible to get a pic with all three of them SMILING and LOOKING at the camera.

This is Grayson's cheese face. Well, he is saying cheese. over and over again.

Grayson's cheese face looks oddly similar to his bathroom face. We need to work on that.

And the open mouth excited face...

Grayson too.

it's getting weird...

And we are done.

He looks so big!

Checking out all the pumpkins....

Just following the boys

He wants a picture on this pumpkin...but he forgets to smile.

In search of little pumpkins...

Here is her open mouth "excited" smile....

And this.

Now Grayson was really getting in to it. Finding pumpkins, climbing pumpkins...all for a pic! What a trooper!

Once we had  enough of the pumpkins I tried to kill a little time by just wondering around the rest of the garden. We sat down and had a snack and then Hayden decided that she wanted to pull the wagon.

It was a little too heavy with both boys so eventually she agreed to get in and let me pull them.

Pumpkin Village

On Friday Hayden and I took a quick trip up to the pumpkin village at the arboretum while the boys were at school.  She loved walking around and checking out all the pumpkins but wasn't a huge fan of getting her picture taken. I couldn't get her to look at me!
We were in and out in about 45 minutes - since our friends didn't end up making it we didn't hang around for long. It was hot...and she was in tights. I can only assume she wasn't thrilled about that...but she sure was cute!

Anyhow, when we woke up this morning we made an impromptu decision to take all of the kiddos to the pumpkin village. When we got to the arboretum the first two parking lots were already full, so we weren't so sure about our idea...

We stuck to the plan and eventually made it...

The boys sat down in the pumpkins and Hayden was so excited to crawl in there with them. She was ALL smiles.
Now if I could only say the same for the boys. They were in good moods but getting a smile from them all is quite challenging.

Or really just getting them ALL to look at the camera would be nice.

At least Hayden was loving it!

This little ham kept requesting pictures...

finally smiling for the camera

Ryan kept coming up to me with different pumpkins and asking me to take his picture.

Then his smiles got a little weird.
So we stopped.

And one more time with all three. Of course Grayson isn't participating...

Texas

That's a big ol' squash. Strong boy!

The kids had fun and after the village we headed over to grab some German food at one of the little cafes.  It was a perfect little Sunday morning...if only it could have been 20 degrees cooler....
